AL-Furat AL-Awsat Technical University (ATU)

ATU, among Iraq’s Technical Universities, comprises 12 faculties spread across eight governorates, offering doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and diploma degrees across diverse disciplines. The number of ATU students who study at the university yearly is around 25,235 and the number of ATU graduates is 12,669.

It stands out for its annual hosting of international conferences, publication of scientific research, and organization of scientific and creative endeavors, all aligned with its commitment to advancing the 17 sustainable development goals through its plans and activities.

1st International Conference on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals

1st ICASDG2022 was held as a hybrid conference combining physical participation in Istanbul, Turkey, and online participation, on 6 – 7 June 2022.

  Conference Aims

Developing the necessary capabilities in the field of sustainable development goals, including:

  • Stimulation and supporting sustainable development research in the Iraqi universities.
  • Highlighting the latest developments in economic, social, and environmental research in conjunction with sustainable development concepts.
  • Discussing the obstacles associated with the integration of sustainability with the educational process that face faculty members.
  • Discussing the role 
  • partnerships in terms of supporting scientific research and community services.

Conference Topics

The conference covers all fields of Engineering, science, and environment but is not limited into:

  • General Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical, and Electronic Engineering).
  • Advanced Material Science (Nanotechnology, Polymers, Metals, and alloys, Advanced Ceramics, Advanced material).

2nd International Conference on Engineering, and Science to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals

2nd ICASDG2023 is held as a hybrid conference combining physical participation in Tabriz, Iran, and online participation, on 9 – 10 July 2023.

Conference Aims

Developing the necessary capabilities in the field of sustainable development, including:

  • Stimulation and supporting sustainable development research in the Iraqi  universities. 
  • Highlighting the latest developments in economic, social, and environmental research in conjunction with sustainable  development concepts.
  • Discussing the role of partnerships in terms of supporting scientific research and community services.
  • Unveiling the significance of voluntary  work to achieving the goals of sustainable  education. 
  • Supporting initiatives that contribute to  improving business sustainability and the quality of public services for the governmental and private sectors.
  • Developing a road map for sustainable  development in the region beyond the  COVID-19 pandemic.
